C++ Programming Contest for Omaha-2004 SPECIAL NOTES

Each competing team will be provided with a computer running Microsoft Windows XP Pro, Office XP 2002, Text Pad, Microsoft Visual Studio 6 (hence, Microsoft Visual C++), SP 5 with MSDN Help.  At the contest briefing, your team will be given a copy of the problem statement and will have an opportunity to ask questions about the problem statement.  Once the briefing has concluded, no further questions about the problem statement will be allowed.  Furthermore, contestants will not be allowed to converse with anyone except their team members once the competition begins.

The problem statement handout will contain example test data along with information about the "legal" ranges of data values.  When judging begins, the judges will use their own test data set to evaluate the functionality of the code that is submitted.  All necessary mathematical formulas and data files will be provided.  Teams should be familiar with all standard data file types and file-handling techniques supported by with Microsoft Visual C++.

A team may be disqualified by the contest director for any activity that jeopardizes the contest such as dislodging extension cords, unauthorized modification of contest materials, or distracting behavior.  Please respect the integrity of the competition environment.

Once a team has completed its solution to the problem statement, the solution will be submitted to the judges via diskette (the contest director will provide the diskettes).

All judging decisions are final.  Here is the framework that will be used to evaluate the submitted solutions:
